Do you remember your ah-ha! moment?
For me, it was during sixth-grade English class way back in 2001. We were instructed to pick a side character from the book we were reading and come up with their story as a creative writing exercise. I’ll be honest, I can’t remember much about what I wrote (I think there was a horse involved?) but what I do recall so very vividly was the reaction from my teacher.
I remember her selecting my story to read out loud to the class. And man, I was embarrassed. But I also felt, well… kind of proud, too. In that moment, I was witnessing raw emotion (from someone who wasn’t my parent) because of something I had written.
And I realized that I liked that feeling.
So, here I am. Still writing. Still reading. And loving the journey.

In her free time, she’s probably gotten hyper-focused on some video game or found a new craft to try out and abandon when the dopamine runs dry.
